SAFE POWERBOAT HANDLING I (Outboard)
Develops the skills and confidence necessary to safely skipper
or crew a small powerboat in coastal waters.
16 total hours classroom and on-the-water over 2-3 days
Fee: $695 (includes textbook)
(optional US Powerboating certification test $50)
(optional state certification test $50)
The course includes classroom presentations and extensive
on-the-water practice, the only nationally recognized
powerboating course to do so.
Information includes general boating terminology, outboard
and inboard engines, boathandling techniques, knots, docking,
launching and trailering, and safety skills including rules
of the road, equipment requirements, and crew overboard recovery
techniques.
Courses scheduled on an individual basis
Maximum 4 students per instructor

SAFE POWERBOAT HANDLING I can
be conducted on the student’s own boat as appropriate and desired.
This
course meets all state requirements, North Carolina and others,
for a boating education course and is accredited by the National
Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA)

SAFE POWERBOAT HANDLING II (Inboard)
Develops the skills and confidence necessary to safely skipper
or crew a large powerboat, single or twin screw,
in coastal waters.
Prerequisite: Safe Powerboat Handling I, or
applicable experience
16 total hours classroom and on-the-water over 2-3 days
Fee: $995 (includes textbook)
(optional US Powerboating certification test $50)
(optional state certification test $50)
The course includes classroom presentations and extensive
on-the-water practice in large powerboats, the only
nationally recognized powerboating course to do so.
SPH II builds on SPH I and includes inboard and diesel engines,
onboard systems, advanced boathandling techniques, advanced
docking, linehandling, navigation, and safety skills including
rules of the road, equipment requirements, and crew overboard
recovery techniques.
